Groceries

I moved out of my parents' house about seven months ago. I've learned that I love grocery shopping. Crazy, maybe. Choosing what to make for dinner for the week, creating a list, walking through the store, and going home to put everything away - there's a thrill to it.

I thought that the excitement would wear off after awhile and go away. I thought that grocery shopping would become a chore. But it hasn't. I look forward to it each week. For me, grocery shopping is a right of passage, in a way; it signifies my coming of age; it makes me feel like a woman. It means that I also will cook soon, or have people over, and I love those moments too. Grocery shopping . . . who would have thought?
