Finding Waldo

Something I wrote for a morning devotional email in '08. Still love the thought.

"When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.' "  ~Genesis 28:16

You know those books you read as a little kid where you tried to find a particular object in the mess of color and busyness on the page?  I think that's what my life is like a lot times . . . God's there, but I'm not aware of it.  Don't miss Him today!  He's here.

  1. Hi Julie,
My name is Molly and I've followed your blog for the last couple of weeks. It sounds like you are following God's call in a very admirable way. Thank you for being a witness for the rest of us.

I work for the St. Vincent Pallotti Center (www.pallotticenter.org). We support missions/volunteering full-time. Would you consider full-time volunteering? A couple organizations that might interest you are:

    Franciscan Volunteer Ministry: http://www.franciscanvolunteerministry.org/
    DeSales Service Works: http://www.oblates.org/dsw/index.php

You might want to take a look at the Pallotti Center website to see what else is out there. Regardless, I trust that God's voice is active in your heart.

    blessings, molly

  2. Molly!

    Good to hear from you!

Unfortunately full-time volunteering does not pay the bills even though it fills up time. :(

Thanks for thinking of me though!

    God bless!

    Julie

  3. Actually, it does pay the bills. It covers all the costs of living, often including an education grant. Many full-time volunteers/missioners live in intentional communities with other missioners. It is an entirely different way of living. It's not just something to fill your time. It's meeting those in greatest need where they are, living in a way that is in solidarity with their greatest needs. It is witnessing Christ to through your actions, living simply and valuing relationship.
